Taking orders at a trade show

A one-screen order pad for standing at a booth with a buyer in front of you.

1:23 · English subtitles · Watch on YouTube (opens in a new tab)

How do I write orders at a trade show booth?

  1. Name the show once — every order you write today is tagged with it.
  2. Pick the buyer and the line. Add parts by typing a few characters of the part number, then set how many and the show price.
  3. When the buyer agrees, write the order. It is listed under today's show.
  4. In the office, the order is on All orders, ready to send to the factory like any other.

Good to know

  • What you type is kept in your browser as you go, so a dropped wifi signal loses nothing.

At a trade show booth there is no time for the full order screen. Show orders is the quick pad. What you type is kept in this browser as you go, so a dropped wifi signal loses nothing. Name the show once — every order you write today gets tagged with it.

Copper Valley Tools' buyer stopped by the booth. Pick the buyer and the line. Add parts by typing a few characters of the part number. Set how many.

The show special on the 2-1/2 inch screws is $58 a box. The total keeps up as you type. When the buyer nods, write the order. It is listed under today's show — so at the end of the day you know what the booth did.

It is a real order now, not a note to retype later. Let's see it from the office side. Ann in the office opens All orders. Jim's show order is there, still to ship and not yet sent to Cutler.

From here Ann sends it to the factory, and it ships and pays commission like any other order.
