Design registrations
When a part is written into a customer's new design, the manufacturer can register it in your name. That protects your commission when orders come.
How do I track design registrations with a manufacturer?
- Press New. Pick the manufacturer and the stage (Sent to them when you have just sent it in).
- Name the project the way the customer's engineers call it, and pick the customer, the rep and the yearly value.
- Save. Until the manufacturer answers, it appears under Needs a hand so you remember to chase it.
- When it is approved, change the stage to Registered and type their registration number, the approval date and how long it holds.
Good to know
- A registration without the manufacturer's number protects nothing, so Registered cannot be saved without one.
- About 45 days before it runs out, it comes back under Needs a hand so you can ask for a renewal.

When you get a part written into a customer's new design, the manufacturer can register it in your name. That registration protects your commission when the orders come, often a year later. So it is worth tracking. Each line is one registration: whose it is, where it stands, and how long it holds.
Pick the manufacturer who hands out the registration number. We just sent it in, so the stage is Sent to them. Name the project the way the customer's engineers call it. Which customer is designing it, and which rep did the work.
What a year of production orders should be worth. Save it. It lands in the list as Sent to them. And at the top, Needs a hand reminds you nobody has answered yet, so you can chase the manufacturer.
A week later Franklin approves it. Open the line and update it. Change the stage to Registered. Try to save without their number...
