How do I check a retailer's promotion deduction against the deal we agreed?

  1. On Trade deals, press New. Pick whose money it is (the manufacturer) and the retailer — or leave the retailer empty if it is open to all.
  2. Set the dates, the rate, the approved budget and the claim-by date. Save.
  3. When a retailer short-pays with a promotion code, record the deduction on Deductions with the code exactly as they wrote it.
  4. Press Match on the deduction. Only deals that could cover it are listed — pick the one you agreed.

Good to know

  • Each deal shows what has been claimed and what is left. Claims beyond the budget are flagged at the top.

Where to find it

Retailers often take promotion money off their payments months later, with nothing but a code. If you write the deal down the day you agree it, you can check every one of those claims. Each line is one agreed deal: whose money, which retailer, the dates, and the budget. Whose money is it?

The manufacturer paying for the promotion. And the retailer who runs it. Leave it empty if it is open to every retailer. The deal runs for the fall season.

They get 4 percent of what they buy during the endcap. Cutler approved up to $6,000. Anything past that is not covered. The claim-by date is the last day they can bill it back.

Save. The deal is in the list, running now, with the full $6,000 still left. Now Green Bay short-pays an invoice and writes a promo code on the remittance. Let's record that deduction.

How much they took, when, and their reference for it. They say it is for a promotion, and the code is exactly as they wrote it. Save. Promotion deductions get a Match button.

Press it to find the deal behind it. Linekto lists only deals that could cover it: same manufacturer, same retailer, around the same dates. Pick the one you actually agreed. Now the deduction has a reason you can point at.

Back on Trade deals, the claim counts against the budget. $1,450 claimed, $4,550 left, one deduction. If they ever claim more than $6,000, it is flagged at the top.
