Import a commission file
Turn the commission file a manufacturer sends each month into invoices, so nobody types them in.
How do I import a manufacturer's commission file?
- Save the file as .xlsx, choose it and press Read it. Nothing is added yet.
- If a column title was not recognised, tell us which column holds what. We remember it for that manufacturer.
- Connect any customer numbers that are new to you. Connected once, remembered for good.
- Check the rows, then add the invoices.
Good to know
- We skip .csv because Excel quietly changes dates and leading zeros in it.
- If something went in wrong, Undo this file takes the whole file back out.

Each month your manufacturers send a commission file. Import turns it into invoices, so nobody types them in. Here is this month's file from Delta Abrasives — eight invoices. Save it as .xlsx.
We skip .csv, because Excel quietly changes dates and leading zeros in it. Leave 'Who sent it' alone — we work out the manufacturer from the file name. Choose the file and press Read it. Nothing is added yet — we only read it.
This is the work screen. The top cards count what is ready and what needs attention. Everything needs attention. Delta calls the sale amount 'Ext.
Net $', a title we did not recognise. So we tell it: the sale amount is in column E. We remember this for Delta, so next month's file will match on its own. Press Re-check, and every row is read again.
Most rows are ready now. Two of Delta's customer numbers are new to us. D-20118 is Copper Valley Tools. Pick it and press Connect.
And D-20431 is Fox Valley Industrial. Connected once, remembered for good. Now nothing is waiting. Scroll down to check what we read before it goes in.
Happy with it? Add the invoices. All eight are in. If something was wrong, Undo this file takes them back out.
