Bring your data over from an old system

Moving from an old commission program? This wizard brings your lists over in three steps. The steps across the top show how far you have come: manufacturers, customers, then sales history. First, tell us which program you are leaving.

We will say what to export from it. The advice below now speaks RPMS. It only changes the tips, not how files are read. Step one: the companies you sell for.

Here is the manufacturer list we exported from RPMS. Drop the file in and press Read it. Nothing is added yet. We matched the columns by their names.

Three are new, and ACME is already on your list, so we leave it alone. Looks right, so add the three new ones. Step two: the people you sell to. The customer list, with addresses and phone numbers.

Read it the same way. Four new customers. Midwest Industrial is already here, so uploading a file twice never makes doubles. Add the four.

Step three is your sales history. History goes one manufacturer file at a time, through the same Import screen you use every month. Then 'Does it add up?' compares each file's total with what we hold. If a file did not go all the way in, the missing amount shows here.

Keep the old program until the totals match. The new manufacturers are ready to use. Brandt, Quillen and Seaway are on the list. Next, bring in each one's history on the Import screen.
