Territories, coverage and splits

Group customers by region, set who covers many customers at once, and share one account between reps.

How do I set up territories and split an account between reps?

  1. On Territories, add the region and put customers into it.
  2. On Who covers whom, find customers with no rep and set them all to one rep in one step.
  3. On Split rules, share an account: pick the customer, every manufacturer or just one, and each rep's share of credit and commission.

Good to know

  • Each column must add up to exactly 100%. From then on every payment on that account is split on the reps' statements.

The agency is opening Iowa. Let's set up the territory, say who covers the new customers, and share one account. Territories group customers by region, so reports can compare one area with another. Two new Iowa customers go into the new territory.

Back on Territories, Iowa now counts its two customers. Nobody covers those customers yet. 'Who covers whom' fixes that for many customers at once. Find the Hawkeye accounts that have no rep.

Set every blank row to Jim Miller in one step — he is opening Iowa. Commission follows the rep on the customer, so from now on Jim is credited automatically. Sometimes two reps share one account. Tom Novak is handing Hawkeye Tool & Die over to Jim, and keeps a share for now.

Every manufacturer, unless one product line splits differently. Jim gets 70% of the credit and the commission. Tom keeps 30%. Each column must add up to exactly 100%.

The totals check it for you. From now on, every payment on this account is split 70/30 on the reps' statements — no one has to do the math.
