Money coming in and goals

How much commission lands in the next months, and whether that is enough to meet your targets.

1:23 · English subtitles · Watch on YouTube (opens in a new tab)

How do I forecast commission and track sales goals?

  1. Money coming in stacks three layers month by month: invoiced but unpaid, orders not shipped, and weighted deals.
  2. Click any amount to see the invoices, orders or deals behind it.
  3. On Goals, set targets for the whole agency or for each rep. Leaving the box saves it.
  4. Each month shows what was sold, the target and the percent reached. The year column compares totals with yearly targets.

Good to know

  • Overdue money is folded into this month so it is not forgotten.

Two questions about what comes next: how much commission lands in the next months, and are we on plan? The big number is money already invoiced but not paid yet — only the date is a guess. Orders not shipped and weighted deals are shown apart, because they are less certain. The chart stacks the three layers month by month.

The hatched part is not sold yet. The table shows the same numbers. Anything overdue is folded into this month so it isn't forgotten. A forecast you can't check is one nobody trusts.

Click any amount to see what's behind it. These are the actual invoices, the line, the customer, and the day we expect the cheque. The bottom line of three layers is left blank on purpose — sure money and maybe-money don't add up. Now, are we on plan?

Open Goals. Each month shows what was sold, the target under it, and the percent reached. Let's set targets for each rep instead of the whole agency. Every rep gets a row.

Green means the month beat its target. Jim Miller has a big account starting up, so raise his September target to 30,000. Also give him a target for October. Leaving the box saves it — no Save button needed.

Reload, and his September progress is measured against the new number. Slide to the end: the year column compares each rep's total with their yearly target. Money coming in tells you what to expect. Goals tell you whether that's enough.
